As the world deals with this coronavirus crisis, be patient with one another because we are all grieving a sense normal.  As you living in these uncertain times here are three things to keep in mind:

1. Be pragmatic about hygiene and your safety. If you are older, take extra precautions.
2. Be prayerful and trust in God’s divine protection during this time of uncertainty.
3. Keep proclaiming the gospel in times like these the world needs hope.

Pray for our leaders and those infected with the virus.

Dear Father,

We know that you are bigger than this virus. While it is easy to give in to fear and anxiety, we put our trust in our Lord Jesus Christ, who is still sitting on the throne. We pray that these numbers will start going down and that anyone that has it will be healed. And we are praying, Lord, that we will not live in fear, but we will live in faith.

Please intervene on behalf of Vice President Pence and his national task-force team, men and women who have spent years in the science field to prepare for moments like these. Tap into their expertise while guiding their minds and their hearts as they search for ways to circumvent the further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Continue to lead them as they determine how best to govern in a time of great uncertainty. Let this be a time of unity where partisanship takes a back seat. This new state of emergency protects those businesses and financial sectors hardest hit by the panic. Protect the emotional and spiritual wellbeing of the public.

We lift in prayer the doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers caring for those infected with the coronavirus, for those who have lost their lives and for the loved ones left behind. Be with our family members who absent from home. All these concerns we place at the feet of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In His name, we pray. Amen.

A Look Back During a Time of Crisis.

Rev Martin Luther, the Reformer was facing the Black Plague he said this:

“I shall ask God mercifully to protect us. Then I shall fumigate, help purify the air, administer medicine and take it. I shall avoid places and persons where my presence is not needed in order not to become contaminated and thus perchance inflict and pollute others and so cause their death as a result of my negligence. If God should wish to take me, he will surely find me and I have done what he has expected of me and so I am not responsible for either my own death or the death of others. If my neighbor needs me however I shall not avoid place or person but will go freely as stated above. See this is such a God-fearing faith because it is neither brash nor foolhardy and does not tempt God.”

During this Time of a Loss of Normal here are Steps to Heal.

  • Spend quiet time connecting with God.
    • God will protect you with his pinions; you’ll find refuge under his wings. His faithfulness is a protective shield. Ps. 91:4
  • Accept there’s a lot you don’t know.
    • “Tell people who are rich at this time not to become egotistical and not to place their hope on their finances, which are uncertain. Instead, they need to hope in God, who richly provides everything for our enjoyment. “ 1 Timothy 6:17
  • Accept that sometimes you have a bad day for no apparent reason.
    • “9 The Lord is a safe place for the oppressed—
a safe place in difficult times.
10 Those who know your name trust you
      because you have not abandoned
any who seek you, Lord.” Ps. 9:9-10
  • Allow light in the middle of it all.
    • “You are the one who lights my lamp— the Lord my God illumines my darkness.” Ps. 18:28
    • “The Lord is my light and my salvation. Should I fear anyone? The Lord is a fortress protecting my life. Should I be frightened of anything?” Ps 27:1
  • Accept that this too shall pass.
    • “Certainly the faithful love of the Lord hasn’t ended; certainly God’s compassion isn’t through! They are renewed every morning. Great is your faithfulness.”
      Lamentations 3:22-23
