Dear Lord,

As this Lenten season begins, we are reminded from Your Word, “Remember that you are dust and to dust, you shall return.” Genesis 3:19

Most gracious God we come into this season of Lent remembering the journey of our Savior toward Calvary. We reflect on the need for that journey and we confess our sins to you. We have fallen short of your glory and the perfection we had in Eden. Lord in Your mercy and grace we have been restored. Ash Wednesday reminds us we return to dust. Help us, by your Holy Spirit, see our sins in the mirror of Your perfection and seek repentance for our sin. Point us by your Spirit, to the strength of our baptism.

As the Apostle Paul reminds us, “If we shared in Jesus’ death by being baptized, we will be raised to life with him.” Romans 6:5

While we take this season to ponder our mortality, our eyes of hope see that Easter is coming! Death you have no power over us. Death you have no sting, and you shall not gain the victory, because worthy is the Lamb who was slain. All glory and honor and praise to His name! Thank you, Jesus, for rescuing us. We keep our eyes head looking for Your second coming. Come quickly, Lord Jesus. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
