Dear Father,
As this new week dawns, we have faced many challenges in our lives. We have seen death, and you have restored our souls. When we have been afraid, and you have comforted us. We have been weak and you have strengthened us. When we were sick you have healed us. If we are injured you have bound us up. When we strayed from your sheepfold you have sought us out and us brought back.

Thank you, Jesus, for being the Good Shepherd. You fulfill the words of the prophet Isaiah, “Like a shepherd, God will tend the flock;
he will gather lambs in his arms
and lift them onto his lap.
He will gently guide the nursing ewes.”  Isaiah 40:11

Jesus, who gathers the sheep together, who lays down his life for the sheep, who saves the sheep, unlike the hired hand who runs away in the face of danger. You care for the sheep. Dear Good Shepherd, comfort and shelter us. Let no harm come to us. You promise us, no one can snatch us out of our Shepherd’s hand. God wipes away every tear from our eyes as we wait for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. In His name, we pray. Amen.
